Calls to Faith

“As an act of reckoning with our heritage of white supremacy and anti-blackness, we call on predominantly white congregations, denominations, and faith traditions to take the following steps:

1. Publicly repent and atone for specific ways your community has participated in, been complicit with, and profited from racism, anti-Blackness, and white supremacy

2. Build and support justice teams in your congregation and racial justice initiatives in your faith tradition or denomination

3. Participate in an upcoming Restitution Sabbath to financially support Black and Indigenous led efforts in your community or nationally

As an act of reckoning with our heritage of white supremacy and anti-Blackness, we demand our elected officials take the following steps:

1. Pass a new Voting Rights Act that expands the electorate and protects access to the ballot for Black, Brown, Indigenous, and Asian/ Pacific Islander citizens

2. Fund reparations efforts for Black and Indigenous communities at the local, state, and federal levels

3. Free the captives by redirecting funds from the criminal justice and immigrant detention machine to invest in education, transportation, and health care for Black, Brown, Asian/Pacific Islander, and Indigenous communities”
